Online Screen

The Online Screen is where you access almost all of Khet's online functionality.

The grouping of buttons on the upper left give you access to a variety of functions that are described in further detail below. The scroll list on the upper right gives you a list of all the online games currently available for you to join. The scroll list on the lower right gives you access to your friends list (if the Friends radio button is selected) or your ignore list (if the Ignored radio button is selected. Friends who are currently online are shown in white while friends who aren't online are shown in grey. The text entry box on the lower left lets you send and receive private messages. A count of the users currently online is provided at the top of the private message text box.

Hosting a Game

There are two ways you can host a game: by creating a game that anyone can join or by inviting a specific friend to play a game. This section discusses how you host a game for anyone to join.

First, click the Host Game button. When you do, you'll get the Host Configuration Popup shown below.

After configuring the game, click the Host Game button to host the game. You'll go back to the Online Screen, which will show you a popup telling you that you're waiting for someone to join your game. Once someone has joined, you'll go directly to the Gameplay Screen. If you decide you're tired of waiting for someone to join, click the Cancel button on the popup to stop hosting the game.

Inviting a Friend to Play a Game

To invite a friend to play a game, right click on their name on the friends scroll list. You can only invite friends who are currently online, so the friend's name needs to be shown in white. Left click the Invite option in the popup that appears, at which point you'll go to the Host Configuration Popup discussed above. After configuring the game, click the Host Game button to finalize the invitation. You'll go back to the Online Screen, which will show you a popup telling you that you're waiting for your friend's reply. At the same time, your friend will receive a popup telling them they've been invited to play a game.

Joining an Available Game

To join a game on the available games scroll list, left click the game information and click the Join Game button. When you do, you'll go to the Join Configuration Popup shown below.

After configuring the game, click the Join Game button to join the game, at which point you'll go directly to the Gameplay Screen. If you decide you don't want to join the game after all, click the Cancel button on the Join Configuration Popup to return to the Online Screen.

Responding to an Invitation

If you're on the Online Screen and someone invites you to play a game, you'll get a popup telling you so. If you click the Yes button, you'll go to the Join Configuration Popup described above. If you click the No button, the popup will disappear and the person who invited you to play a game will receive a message telling them that you declined the invitation.

Friends Management

To add a friend to your friends list, click the Add Friend button. You'll go to a popup asking for the new friend's user name. After entering their name, click the OK button on the popup to add them to your friends list. If you decide not to add them, click the Cancel button on the popup to return to the Online Screen.

To remove a friend from your friends list, right click their name on the friends scroll list and click the Remove option in the popup that appears.

Sending a Private Message

To send a private message to a friend, left click the recipient's name on the friends scroll list and type your message in the private message text box. When you press <Enter> the private message will appear in your friend's private message text box.

Ignored Management

Players on your ignore list won't be able to send invitations to play a game or private messages to you. In addition, games hosted by those players won't appear in your available games list and those players won't be able to join games you host.

To add a player to your ignore list, click the Ignore Player button. You'll go to a popup asking for the ignored player's user name. After entering their name, click the OK button on the popup to add them to your ignore list. If you decide not to add them, click the Cancel button on the popup to return to the Online Screen.

To remove an ignored player from your ignore list, right click their name on the ignored scroll list and click the Remove option in the popup that appears.
